Weymouth Center: “Long Words, A Paranormal Dance of History and Memory”

November 1 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

$20

Weymouth Center for the Arts & Humanities presents “Long Words, A Paranormal Dance of History and Memory,” a supernatural and surprising evening of dance theater. This is a newly devised work of movement theater created for the community and premiering just in time for Halloween. Explore the history and legacy of James and Katharine Boyd, tour the historic grounds, hear terrifying tales of ghostly sorrow, and be inspired by the hidden history all around us. Audience members will move through the grounds and interact with performers as the stories of Weymouth come alive around them.

This event is designed for adults ages 18+. Each ticket includes one signature cocktail that will be available in the Great Room upon arrival. Space is limited. Admission is $20 and you may choose one of two paths: The Haunted History Track or the Boyd History Track.

The Haunted History Track focuses on more esoteric and strange pieces of history surrounding Weymouth house. It will include several ghost stories gathered from firsthand sources, as well as feature interactivity in the form of audience members participating in some parapsychology experiments

The Boyd History Track focuses on the history of the Boyd’s, how they came to establish Weymouth, how they contributed to the development of the city and community of Southern Pines, and why it remains a salient story and meaningful community center even decades after their deaths.

*If you cannot use stairs, there will be a show available on November 1st, at 6:00pm that will take place solely in the Great Room. This will allow those with accessibility limitations to see our show.

The event takes place Wednesdays-Fridays from October 23rd-November 1st. For more information and online ticket purchases, CLICK HERE.
