A Night of Silent Film and Organ Music with Mark Andersen

Carolina Civic Center Historic Theater in Lumberton presents A Night of Silent Film and Organ Music with Mark Andersen, a fundraising event for the Robeson County Arts Council. Join on Thursday, August 15th | 7pm-9pm! The theater’s “Mighty Morton” organ will be showcased through both new and classic silent films, as well as nostalgic tunes performed by the renowned musician and composer Mark Andersen.

The event will begin with a screening of the short film “Applecalypse,” created and starred in by UNC Chapel Hill film department students. This film, which Andersen scored, premiered recently at the Carolina Theatre in Greensboro. Director Minh Ngo will be present to introduce the film and discuss its creation process.

The musical segment of the program, titled “The American Songbook,” will include music by George Gershwin and Cole Porter. The night will conclude with the silent short “Laughing Gas,” starring Charlie Chaplin and also scored by Andersen.
