Botanical Eco Printing and Book Making

$149 – $279When Nature meets Art; discover Eco Printing! Join at ARTworks Vass as Melissa Rian, Michigan based Mixed Media Artist, will be visiting on Friday and/or Saturday, April 19th and 20th | 9:00am-4:00pm. The terms eco dying and eco printing are most often used interchangeably. Eco Dying is the process of transferring color from plant matter to paper or fabric by boiling or steaming. Eco Printing is a subset of eco dying and refers to the direct contact that comes from keeping plant matter in contact with the paper during the boil resulting in a clear image.
Day 1 – Friday, April 19th
Learn how to make botanical prints and paper collage materials using fresh and dried leaves and flowers and the Eco Print process. Melissa demonstrates how to create a bundle to dye, the Eco dying process and shares which dye baths yield the best results. You are invited to bring your own paper or fabric (natural fibers such as silk or cotton) to experiment with the Eco Print process.
Day 2 – Saturday, April 20th
The fun continues on day 2 as Melissa teaches you how to make a flag book and a simple pamphlet book using your works of art created during Day 1. You will also continue to Eco Printing items and are invited to bring your own paper or fabric (natural fibers such as silk or cotton) to experiment with the Eco Print process.
