School Aged Children are invited to join Jean for 4 Sessions of Hand Built Pottery Making and Glazing. Class will be held from 3:00pm- 5:00pm on Wednesdays, 5/14, 5/21, 5/28 and 6/4. The skills taught in each session build on each other. Class size is limited. Beginners are welcome.
Session 1 – Begin with an introduction and tour of the ARTworks Vass Pottery Studio, with an emphasis on materials, best practices for safety and the keys to success in pottery making.
Session 2 – Guests will learn about 3 dimensional pottery construction to create their own Vases and Cyllinders, and they may choose to make either 1 large or 2 small pieces.
Session 3 – Guests will learn more about the process of two dimensional Slab Construction, and will incorporate their own drawings and designs as they create 1 Large or 2 Small Trays, Dishes, or Wall Hangings. Transferring Underglazed Images to clay may also be introduced during this class session.
Session 4 – Decorating Day! Remaining work from previous sessions will have been kilned fired for the first time, and it will be ready and waiting to be glazed.
