Flutterby Festival
September 28 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
FREECelebrate our pollinators as the Village Heritage Foundation and the Village of Pinehurst presents the Flutterby Festival! It’s all about the birds, bees, butterflies and more as the event promotes pollinator habits! Enjoy a day of fun with educational activities for the whole family at the Village Arboretum in Pinehurst on Saturday, September 28th | 11am-2pm. This event supports active efforts to conserve the monarch butterfly and other pollinator species. There will be educational, fun demonstrations and programs with an opportunity to interact and feed hundreds of newly emerged monarch butterflies in the giant Magical Monarch Tents. Tour the 10,000-square-foot Native Pollinator Garden that includes native flowering perennials, host plants, walkways and the Pollinator Pavilion. Tag and release adult monarch butterflies in the garden in time for the insect’s migration to Mexico. Live music will be provided by musicians from the Carolina Philharmonic. Refreshments will be available for purchase from food trucks on site. Dogs must be leashed and are not permitted in the exhibit tents or the monarch tagging area.
Additional activities include: Butterfly arts and crafts | Learn about other pollinators like birds and bees | Discussions on native plants | Information on creating a backyard pollinator garden
