Join for a Movie Night! The League of Women Voters and the Sandhills Coalition for Peace, Love and Justice are sponsoring a free showing of The Social Dilemma on Friday, March 1st at the Sunrise Theatre. The 90-minute screening focuses on the impact of social media and will be followed by a 30-minute discussion.

On-line media and its positive and negative effects on individuals of all ages is one of the most pressing issues of our times. It is of concern to families and institutions across political, cultural, economic, and religious differences. It also shows how platforms can harvest personal data to target users with ads and are largely unregulated. The discussion will be led by Robert Orr, former Republican Associate Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court and NC Co-lead for the Carter Center’s Strengthening Democracy Project.
