The Moore County Historical Association presents Excavation and Analysis of Blackbeard The Pirate’s Flagship on Sunday, April 28th at 3pm at the Southern Pines Civic Club. This is the story of Edward Teach, more commonly known as the notorious Blackbeard, the Pirate. Dr. Linda Carnes-McNaughton will offer an illustrated journey of the Blackbeard ship’s history, its use as a French privateer, then as a slave ship, and then its capture and use as a pirate flagship. The lecture will highlight 18th-century artifacts found on the famous North Carolina shipwreck. Copies of her autographed book will be available for purchase at $20. This event is free and open to the public.
