Join the NC Wildlife Resources Commission for Moth Night in the Sandhills: Discoveries in the Darkness at Weymouth Woods-Sandhills Nature Preserve on Tuesday, June 25th | 8:00pm-11:00pm! Enjoy this workshop which will explore the mysterious and fascinating world of moths in the Sandhills! This free, in-person event will be a unique opportunity to witness the beauty and diversity of moths up close.

“We’ll begin indoors with a brief presentation on this extremely important group of insects. We’ll discuss their roles in the environment, basic tips for identification, and the rising popularity of mothing. We’ll also provide an overview of the efforts to document their diversity in Mecklenburg County. After the sun sets, we’ll spend time outdoors observing and identifying moths with the aid of blacklights, sheets, and specialized baits.”
