Speed Candi-Dating! Enjoy an evening with your Moore County School Board Candidates on Saturday, September 29th| 3:30pm-5pm at West Pine Middle School in West End. “Candi-Dating” is a new format wherein candidates engage in direct conversations with multiple voters by spending time at each of their tables. Because of its success during last spring’s Primary, the “Candi-Dating” format will be used again. Named for its similarity to speed dating opportunities for single folks to meet potential partners, this event will feature eight tables for attendees, and candidates will rotate from group to group in order to respond to voters’ questions about their experience, concerns, issues, challenges, etc. Candidates will first be asked to introduce themselves briefly.
A spokesperson for the sponsors noted, “There will be a moderator at every table to ensure that each person has an opportunity to speak, and that the conversation remains focused and civil. As with our previous candidate events, the purpose is information, not confrontation.”
Invitations to participate have been extended to all eight candidates: Amy Dahl and Oscar Romine (District 1), Robert Levy and Steve Johnson (District 2), Ellie Collins and David Hensley (District 4), Robin Calcutt and Don Zawlocki (District 5).
