Sunrise Live Presents: “The Importance of Being Earnest”

October 18 @ 7:00 pm

$16.50 – $27.50

Sunrise Live presents “The Importance of Being Earnest.” The Importance of Being Earnest is a period piece RomCom written by Oscar Wilde. Directed by Amy Damone and Amanda Villani and performed by local performers.

In The Picture of Dorian Gray, Oscar Wilde wrote: “When I like people immensely, I never tell their names to anyone. It is like surrendering a part of them. I have grown to love secrecy.” Secret names were a common theme in Wilde’s working. They popped up in his best remembered play, The Importance of Being Earnest, where a man uses a fake name masquerading as a non-existent younger brother, to keep his record clean.

The Importance of Being Earnest continues to shine as an example of Wilde’s wit, talent, and social critique—made all the more powerful with the knowledge of his life. With work as with life, Oscar Wilde would hide true depth in quick wit and an easy laugh. The Sunrise Live group is taking on this important work just as Wilde would have wanted—as a riotous comedy!

The Importance of Being Earnest is showing the weekends of October 11th-13th and 18th-20th. Friday and Saturday showings are at 7:00pm. Sunday showings are at 3:00pm. Tickets are $27.50 and $16.50 for students. Tickets are available at the Sunrise Box Office or at the doors thirty minutes before show. To conveniently purchase tickets online, CLICK HERE.
