Weymouth Center: Weymouth Writeaway
March 3, 2025 @ 11:00 am - 11:59 pm
The Weymouth Center for the Arts & Humanities presents Weymouth Writeaway, an exclusive opportunity for writers of all levels from around the world. This special program, held in collaboration with Writeaways, offers a unique chance to stay and write at the historic Boyd House, typically reserved for North Carolina’s published writers through the Weymouth Writers-in-Residence program!
The retreat runs from February 24th-March 3rd, 2025, with limited accommodations available in the lovely Boyd House and nearby locations. Participants will enjoy peaceful mornings dedicated to writing, afternoon workshops, private consultations, and all-inclusive meals with cocktails and wine.
“The Weymouth Writeaway is located in Southern Pines, North Carolina,at the Weymouth Center for the Arts & Humanities, a home built by James and Katherine Boyd in the 1920s, and the site of the North Carolina Literary Hall of Fame. In the 1920s, Thomas Wolfe, Max Perkins, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Paul Green, and Sherwood Anderson were friends of the Boyds, and frequent visitors to their home. The surrounding 26-acre estate is open to the public for use as a natural preserve and park, with formal gardens designed by Alfred Yeomans, and is the gateway to the longleaf pine forest in the Boyd Tract of Weymouth Woods. Enjoy miles of walking trails, where you’re likely to see deer, horses and maybe even the occasional fox. Downtown Southern Pines, with its charming shops, restaurants, cafés and world-class bookstore – The Country Bookshop – is just a brief walk away.”
Lodging for seven nights is included, with rates set at $3,200 for a single room or $2,800 per person for shared rooms. Discounts are available for past Writeaways participants, so early applications are encouraged to secure a spot. For full details and online registration, follow the event website link provided below.
