The event honors Demus Taylor\, a member of the Ibo Tribe of West Africa\, who survived slavery and helped establish the Old Settlement\, which became the Town of Taylortown in 1987. The day’s festivities begin at 7:00am with the “T-Town Fun Run/Walk\,” a one-mile event led by Coach Jeffrey Moody\, starting at Johnny Boler Municipal Park. Later\, at 11:00 a.m.\, the “First Families of Taylortown Luncheon” will be held at Town Hall\, where attendees can share stories of their family’s connection to Taylortown. Following the luncheon\, a scrapbooking session is scheduled for 1:00pm at the Taylortown Museum\, where participants can also explore “Envisioning Our Future.” The celebration concludes with a “Pool Party” from 3:00pm-8:00pm. at Johnny Boler Municipal Park\, featuring music\, vendors and more. \n
