Wayne will guide you through each step of the process\, making this an unforgettable opportunity to experience the excitement of working with hot glass. Glassblowing is a choreographed collaboration. This will be an enjoyable beginner friendly experience and by the end of your session\, you’ll be amazed at what you’ve created! \n\n\n\nYour finished pumpkin or gourd will cool overnight in the kiln and will be ready for pickup a day or two later. SUMMARY:Sandhills Quilters Guild Quilt Show
DESCRIPTION:Sandhills Quilters Guild extends an open invitation to attend the biannual Quilt Show\, Quilting in the Pines\, on Friday and Saturday\, 9/25 and 9/26\, from 10 AM to 5 PM. The show will be held at the Historic Pinehurst Fair Barn\, at 200 Beulah Hill Road South in Pinehurst.  Admission is $8.00\, with free admission for children under the age of 18. \nOur event will feature over 125 stunning quilts that range from traditional hand quilted items to art quilts to modern quilts. These include quilts from a full range of sizes from miniature wall hangings to king size masterpieces and everything in between. Special displays will include quilts honoring our sesquicentennial\, Quilts of Valor\, and comfort quilts. \nThis year’s Quilt Show will feature a silent auction\, including a Singer Featherweight\, wines\, a Bob Timberlake picture\, and a Longaberger basket.  A number of raffle baskets will provide chances to win loads of goodies for the kitchen\, the sewing room\, game night\, the beach\, knitting\, the holidays\, and more.  Our guild boutique offers the opportunity to purchase a variety of quilts and other items handmade by guild members. We’ll have a vendor mall for additional shopping. \nMoney raised goes to support our mission\, which includes donations of handmade quilts to nursing homes\, children’s homes\, and Habitat for Humanity\, as well as outreach programs that teach the art of sewing and quilting. \nWe also have a scavenger hunt for kids and hands-on opportunities for attendees of all ages to learn about the quilting process and our guild. \nWe are fortunate to have Scott Murkin\, a National Association of Certified Quilt Judges\, and Susan Edmonson\, a designer and award-winning quilter\, judging our show. \nTwo food trucks will be on site both days:  Blue Suede BBQ and Cookies & Moore. \nFor more information\, visit https://www.sandhillsquilters.org/quilting-in-the-pines.

Wheel throwing is a skill that develops over time\, and every class builds on the one before it. Celebrate your progress—it’s a true sign of success!\n\nGet Ready to Get Messy!\n\n 	Wear comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. (Clay washes out easily!)\n 	An apron is optional but helpful.\n 	Tie back long hair and remove rings and bracelets.\n 	Short nails are best—but not required.\n\nWhat to Expect\n\n 	This class last 3 hours: 2.5 hours of instruction and 30 minutes of cleanup. As potters in a community studio\, we strive to leave our work space better than we found it.\n 	To ensure plenty of personal instruction\, this class is limited to 6 students—1 student per wheel.\n 	You’ll create 2–4 small pieces\, such as bowls\, coasters\, or spoon rests. As you grow your skills\, your pieces will grow in size\, too!\n 	After class\, Beth will trim\, dry and bisque fire your pieces. Next she will glaze and kiln fire them again. This process can take up to 4 weeks\, depending on drying time and humidity.\n 	We’ll notify you when your pottery is ready for pickup. DESCRIPTION:Join us at From the Ground Up Pottery\, 172 Crestwood Road\, Robbins\, NC 27325 (Hwy 705). This year’s turkey will be a “Turkey Jerky” that can be eaten after browsing a selection of our latest pots. R.D. was my father\, the late Ronald Dewitt Mahan. This is our kiln opening in honor of the man whose courage\, determination and energy inspired me to create whatever I desire. It’s a yearly event at the studio to celebrate\, with family and friends\, making pottery in Seagrove for 40 years. I will have new work available fresh from the kilns. There will be wood-fired pots and electric-fired pots: tree pots\, platters\, soul pots\, bells\, and more. Refreshments to go. Saturday and Sunday 10AM-5PM.
