A devoted husband\, father\, grandfather\, and pediatrician\, Joey spent his life caring for others—serving children and families across North Carolina with compassion\, humility\, and unwavering dedication. In 1986\, he became the first Lumbee pediatrician and the first American Indian pediatrician in North Carolina\, leaving a lasting legacy in medicine and in his community. \nThis walk is both a tribute and a call to action. Funds raised will support ALS United North Carolina’s care services\, equipment loan program\, research\, and advocacy efforts\, ensuring that individuals and families facing ALS in our state have access to the care\, resources\, and support they need. \nDr. Bell was a trailblazer—the first Lumbee pediatrician and the first American Indian pediatrician in North Carolina. A sit-to-stand is the simple movement of rising from a seated position to standing. It engages multiple muscle groups\, builds strength and helps improve mobility and independence\, making it especially beneficial for people living with Parkinson’s. \nFirstHealth Fitness has set a goal of 75\,000 sit-to-stands across all our centers. Stand alongside our Rock Steady Boxing fighters to show your support. Can’t attend? You can still participate.
