SUMMARY:The Knollwood Maneuver with Gigi Walter
DESCRIPTION:During World War II\, General Dwight D. Eisenhower\, Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces in Europe\, considered eliminating Airborne divisions following two unsuccessful missions. However\, General George C. Marshall believed strongly in the value of Airborne forces as independent divisions and sought an opportunity to prove their effectiveness. \n\n\n\nThat defining opportunity came right here in Moore County. The Knollwood Maneuver conducted December 6–12\, 1943\, involved more than 10\,000 troops and took place at the Knollwood Army Auxiliary Airfield—now known as the Moore County Airport. This large-scale exercise ultimately demonstrated the strategic value of Airborne operations and played a pivotal role in preserving Airborne divisions within the U.S. Army. \n\n\n\nJoin Sandhills Horticultural Gardens for an in-depth look at this moment in history\, as we commemorate our nation’s 250th anniversary and explore how the events that unfolded here in Moore County not only saved the Airborne divisions but also served as a critical rehearsal for the Normandy Invasion. \n\n\n\nSandhills Horticultural Gardens – The Knollwood Maneuver with Gigi Walter

SUMMARY:"Taming Your Money Monster..." Book Talk & Conversation
DESCRIPTION:Join at the Southern Pines Public Library as former Benedictine monk turned best-selling author Doug Lynam discusses his new book\, Taming Your Money Monster: Nine Paths To Money Mastery With The Enneagram. Why do smart people still get money wrong? It’s rarely about the math. It’s about the emotions underneath the numbers\, and those emotions surface in predictable ways depending on our Enneagram type. We get anxious or avoidant and quietly sabotage our own financial lives. Using the nine types of the Enneagram\, Doug reveals the “money monsters” driving our decisions and shows us how to tame them. Expect a few laughs and a fresh perspective on your relationship with money.
