In 1986\, he became the first Lumbee pediatrician and the first American Indian pediatrician in North Carolina\, leaving a lasting legacy in medicine and in his community. \nThis walk is both a tribute and a call to action. Funds raised will support ALS United North Carolina’s care services\, equipment loan program\, research\, and advocacy efforts\, ensuring that individuals and families facing ALS in our state have access to the care\, resources\, and support they need. \nDr. Bell was a trailblazer—the first Lumbee pediatrician and the first American Indian pediatrician in North Carolina.
