DESCRIPTION:The annual Clenny Creek Heritage Day event will take place at the Bryant House Property on 3361 Mt. Carmel Road in Carthage on Saturday\, April 18th from 10:00am-4:00pm. The Heritage Day is the annual rite of spring showcasing the 1820s furnished Bryant House and 1760s Joel McLendon Cabin\, the oldest dwelling on its original site in Moore County. On this special day\, both houses will be open and there will be 18th and 19th century crafters\, live music\, and food. There will also be “camps” of both the American Revolution and the Civil War with re-enactors\, demonstrations of old-time activities such as quilting\, weaving\, cooking\, woodworking\, and living history. This event is free\, and the public is invited! \n \n  \n

The free-form design means no two pieces will ever be the same! You’ll also explore texture techniques to add decorative patterns before choosing from a selection of studio glazes to finish your piece. \nThis class is perfect for beginners and experienced clay lovers alike. In this class\, you will cut and shape glass pieces using vibrant shades handpicked by you. You’ll learn to grind the edges of your glass to smooth perfection and apply copper foil to prepare your project for soldering. \nYour project will come together when Nancy takes your project home to finish with solder\, ensuring a professional\, durable finish. Everything is included. \nClass Highlights: \n\nCut\, grind\, and foil your glass pieces\nWork with a variety of beautiful glass colors\nLearn essential stained glass techniques\nInstructor-led project assembly and soldering\n\nNo prior experience needed! Whether you’re a first-timer or looking to sharpen your stained glass skills\, this class will provide you with the tools and techniques to make something truly beautiful. \nYour project will be finished approximately 1 week after class. You will receive a phone call or text when it’s ready for pick-up. \nNancy has lived in Aberdeen since 1991 with husband Larry\, working as a musician\, teaching piano\, voice\, and serving as music director at Bethesda Presbyterian Church. Upon her retirement in 2021\, she began enrolling in various classes at ARTworks Vass where she caught the stained glass bug! We are excited that Nancy is sharing her passion with us at ARTworks Vass! \nImportant Information: \n\nBeginners are welcome.\nChildren age 14 and older may attend class independently.\nRegistration allows for one Guest per class project.\nOnly Registered Guests may attend class.\nRegistrations are non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled.\nClass starts promptly as scheduled.\nDress to mess or bring an apron.\nYou will be notified when your project is ready to pick up.  We will hold it for 90 days with monthly notifications by text or phone. DESCRIPTION:Join Beth Roy for a 3-session beginning acrylic painting classes that will strengthen your skills\, spark your creativity\, and bring joy to your studio practice. \nWhen: Wednesdays\, April 29th\, May 27th and June 24th \nTime: 1:00-5:00 \nIncludes: Expert feedback that is constructive\, actionable and supportive\, plenty of time to paint in a relaxed environment\, and all necessary materials although you are welcome to bring your favorite tools\, supplies and paints. \nPrice: $249 for all three sessions \nThese small group sessions\, limited to 6 students\, focuses on technique\, color theory\, composition\, and personal expression — all tailored to your individual goals and experience level. \n\nApril 29: Painting fundamentals that include quick exercises\nMay 27: Start the class painting\nJune 24: Finish the painting and start another if time an allows.\n\nWhether you’re a beginner looking to learn the basics or a more experienced painter craving new inspiration and structure\, this painting class is for you. \nAbout Beth Roy \nGrowing up in rural Michigan\, artist Beth Roy acquired the foundation that allows her paintings to come to life today. She began riding horses at an early age and her life-long relationship with them has allowed her to translate them beautifully in her work. Body language is also a critical component of Beth’s compositions and using the subtlest of nuances\, she strives to capture the personality of animals and people in her work. \n  \nProfessionally\, Beth studied art at Austin Peay State College\, and Christopher Newport College. She has won several regional awards and her work is currently represented in Beaufort\, Southern Pines\, and Vass\, North Carolina.
