SUMMARY:Memorial Day Walk in the Sandhills Horticultural Gardens
DESCRIPTION:The Pines Times was honored to collaborate with the Sandhills Horticultural Gardens on a special Memorial Day Walk in the Gardens. Through this meaningful project\, we had the privilege of meeting with local families to help share the stories of loved ones who proudly served our country. Memorial Day Walk in the Gardens honors the service\, sacrifice\, and experiences of local veterans through a series of featured stories presented in the Memorial Day gazebo at the Sandhills Horticultural Gardens!\nVisit the gardens\, take a peaceful walk\, and discover the veterans tribute signs placed in the central part of the gardens near the gazebo and creek. Each sign includes a QR code that allows visitors to hear personal stories shared by family members — remembering not only the service of these veterans\, but also the lives they lived and the legacy they left behind. Explore photographs\, biographies\, and personal reflections that highlight the lives and military service of these individuals while connecting remembrance with the peaceful setting of the gardens. Inside the gazebo\, photographs of each veteran are paired with QR codes linking visitors to extended stories and video interviews. These videos provide a deeper look into each veteran’s experiences\, service\, and connection to the community.\nWe extend our deepest gratitude to all service members and their families — especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. It is our hope that this tribute not only honors these heroes but also inspires more families to share their stories so this project can continue to grow in the future. The display will be on view through Sunday\, June 14th. \n \n

DESCRIPTION:Get ready for an incredible evening of honor\, gratitude\, and rock and roll because Gary Sinise & The Lt. Dan Band are performing a completely free concert at the Fort Bragg Fairgrounds! Scheduled for Saturday\, June 13th\, this event is designed to bring the military community together and show deep appreciation for service members\, veterans\, military families\, and authorized guests. \n\n\n\nGates will open at 5:00PM\, and the live music kicks off at 6:00PM. While admission is entirely free\, please note that base access is required to attend the event. \n\n\n\nBrought to you by the Gary Sinise Foundation\, the Lt. Dan Band has entertained troops and military communities across the globe\, continually lifting spirits and supporting active duty personnel\, veterans\, first responders\, and their loved ones. Attendees are highly encouraged to pack up their lawn chairs\, round up friends and family\, and come out to enjoy an unforgettable summer evening of community connection and great live music!
