DESCRIPTION:The Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina is honored to invite you to our Federal Recognition Celebration on Saturday\, May 16th. We welcome our Lumbee Citizens\, our community\, our neighbors\, our supporters in Federal Recognition\, and YOU to this grand celebration at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. It will be a momentous day to join us in celebration of this historic and joyous achievement! \nThe celebration begins at 9AM and continues through 9PM. This day is a celebration of culture\, history\, and community. Attendees will enjoy a variety of live entertainment\, including singing\, dancing\, traditional performances\, and cultural demonstrations throughout the day. \nThere will be food vendors\, arts and craft vendors and hands-on arts and crafts activities for children. Guests will also have the opportunity to fellowship with community members\, and hear powerful stories shared by our elders and youth. This special program will also feature remarks from Tribal Chairman John L. Lowery\, along with tribal members and key individuals who played an important role in achieving federal recognition.
