The group aims to help amputees\, people with limb loss or limb difference\, and their families cope with initial shock\, regain control\, and find encouragement through education and compassion. Infectious diseases physician Gretchen Arnoczy\, M.D.\, noted that the goal is to remind participants that “Amputees can do virtually anything they want to do\, and we want to support them in their endeavors.” \nThe inaugural meeting will be held from 5:00pm-6:30pm on Tuesday\, October 28th\, at the Clara McLean House in Pinehurst. Following the launch\, meetings will continue on the last Tuesday of each month and will feature a presentation followed by dedicated time for questions\, answers\, and discussion. DESCRIPTION:FirstHealth is launching the new Step Forward Amputee Support Group to provide vital support for people who have experienced amputation\, along with their families. The group aims to help amputees\, people with limb loss or limb difference\, and their families cope with initial shock\, regain control\, and find encouragement through education and compassion. Infectious diseases physician Gretchen Arnoczy\, M.D.\, noted that the goal is to remind participants that “Amputees can do virtually anything they want to do\, and we want to support them in their endeavors.” \nThe inaugural meeting will be held from 5:00pm-6:30pm on Tuesday\, October 28th\, at the Clara McLean House in Pinehurst. Following the launch\, meetings will continue on the last Tuesday of each month and will feature a presentation followed by dedicated time for questions\, answers\, and discussion. All amputees and their families in the Sandhills area are welcome to attend.
