Join the Arts Council for another arts lecture series that will dive into art and the lives of the best artists in history\, in addition to other artistically interesting topics. \nWWII Art Lecture with Abbe Allen: Tuesday\, April 21st at 5:30PM or Wednesday\, April 22nd at 10AM (Choose a reservation) \nMonths before the introduction of the Monuments Men with the successful D-day invasion\, there were Monuments Men on the ground in Italy. They faced a monumental task. It is estimated that the city of Florence alone contains approximately 10% of the world’s art treasures. In order to protect Michelangelo’s David\, and his other statues along the corridor\, the Accademia in Florence encased the statue in brick. We will look at the trials\, tribulations\, and successes of the Monuments Men in Italy. \nLECTURER: Abbe Allen is a retired professor of history\, political science\, & art history from Sandhills Community College. Prior to moving to Whispering Pines\, she was an adjunct instructor in the humanities at Columbus State Community College & a docent at the Columbus Museum of Art. These exercises increase motor control and repetitive effort within time restraints at each exercise station. \nPWR! Group Fridays 1pm: Parkinson’s Wellness Recovery class that focus on movements that promote large amplitude\, high effort and attention to action from multiple positions (prone\, supine\, all 4’s and standing).\nThese exercises help to increase motor control with sustained and repetitive effort while also promoting better balance. \nOnce the above items are complete\, class assignment will be based on assessments and screenings. \nClass is limited to 10\, so please complete the above items in advance to ensure your spot in the classes.
