So come for the music\, stay for the bourbon\, and leave knowing you were part of something bigger. \nThe first annual Bourbon & Berets event is scheduled for Friday\, May 1st\, from 6:00PM-10:00PM at The Fair Barn in Pinehurst. This community gathering serves as a fundraiser for the Special Forces Trust and features a packed schedule of live entertainment\, including a performance of the National Anthem by Scarlet Tantrum and sets by Michael Ray\, BoneS Fork\, and American Idol contestant Elijah McCormick performing with Tony Barnes. Attendees can also witness a live parachute jump into the field and participate in various raffles and auctions. \nThe evening includes unlimited food\, wine\, and beer for all adult ticket holders\, with an optional $15 add-on for unlimited bourbon tastings. Family-friendly activities are available throughout the night\, such as face painting and a petting farm experience for children. Early bird tickets are currently available for $55 for military members and $65 for civilians\, with prices increasing by $5 two weeks before the event and another $5 at the door. Its moving tale of young lovers who become disillusioned\, only to discover a more mature\, meaningful love is punctuated by a bountiful series of catchy\, memorable songs\, many of which have become classics. \nThe Fantasticks is a funny and romantic musical about a boy\, a girl\, and their two fathers who try to keep them apart. The narrator\, El Gallo\, asks the audience to use their imagination and follow him into a world of moonlight and magic. The boy and the girl fall in love\, grow apart and finally find their way back to each other after realizing the truth in El Gallo’s words that\, “without a hurt\, the heart is hollow.” \nPresented in a minimalist style that highlights imagination and storytelling\, the production emphasizes the musical’s poetic exploration of young love\, parental interference\, and the journey from romantic idealism to real-world understanding.
