DESCRIPTION:Discover the relaxing rhythm and creative joy of circular weaving! \nIn this hands-on workshop on Thursday\, Mar. 19th from 5:30 to 8:30\, artist Hillery Leebert will guide you through the process of creating your own beautiful woven piece using an 8” metal hoop that’s pre-wrapped and warped and ready for you to begin. \nYou’ll learn several foundational weaving techniques — including the Tabby Stitch\, Soumak Stitch\, Organic Knots\, and Weaving with Roving — as you explore texture\, pattern\, and color with a variety of natural fibers. \nPlease note that everyone weaves at a different pace. You may or may not finish your project during the class. In this beginner-friendly workshop\, Beth will guide you through the fundamentals—centering clay on the wheel\, forming a cylinder\, trimming the “skirt\,” and cutting your piece from the wheel. By the end of class\, you’ll have created several small bowls\, dishes\, or similar masterpieces. \nImportant Info for First-Timers \nThis class is designed especially for beginners or those looking to refine their wheel-throwing technique. We encourage you to come with realistic expectations and a curious\, beginner’s mindset. \nNew to Clay? \nIf you’ve never touched clay before\, we highly recommend trying one of our hand-building classes first. These offer a great introduction to the feel of clay and how to manipulate it. They’re also perfect for creating beautiful\, larger-scale projects with a high rate of success—even for first-timers! \nAbout the Learning Process: \nIt’s important to know: no one sits down at the wheel for the first time and magically creates a big\, beautiful bowl. Wheel throwing is a skill that develops over time\, and every class builds on the one before it. Celebrate your progress—it’s a true sign of success! \nGet Ready to Get Messy! \n\nWear comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.
