Runners will trek through the streets and residential neighborhoods of the Village. Runners are encouraged to come festively dressed to make the run extra fun! All finishers receive a hot chocolate and a metal. \nFor each race entry\, a donation of $1 will be made to Women of the Pines\, a fantastic local organization that supports the sick\, hungry\, homeless\, and abused. In addition\, everyone is encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to the race to support the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina. DESCRIPTION:FirstHealth is launching the new Step Forward Amputee Support Group to provide vital support for people who have experienced amputation\, along with their families. The group aims to help amputees\, people with limb loss or limb difference\, and their families cope with initial shock\, regain control\, and find encouragement through education and compassion. Infectious diseases physician Gretchen Arnoczy\, M.D.\, noted that the goal is to remind participants that “Amputees can do virtually anything they want to do\, and we want to support them in their endeavors.” \nThe inaugural meeting will be held from 5:00pm-6:30pm on Tuesday\, October 28th\, at the Clara McLean House in Pinehurst. Following the launch\, meetings will continue on the last Tuesday of each month and will feature a presentation followed by dedicated time for questions\, answers\, and discussion. All amputees and their families in the Sandhills area are welcome to attend.

This annual celebration honors cancer survivors\, raises awareness of the challenges of cancer survivorship and celebrates life. Enjoy live music\, dancing and opportunities for survivors to connect with one another. There will be a guest speaker. The Sand Band will provide live beach music. The event will also feature dinner. Hawaiian shirts or beach resort wear is encouraged. \n“Cancer impacts people everywhere. Nearly 17 million people are living with and beyond cancer in America\, and there are more than 43 million cancer survivors around the world.
