DESCRIPTION:“Every Thanksgiving morning\, a unique and time-honored tradition unfolds in Southern Pines\, North Carolina. The Moore County Hounds invite the public to attend their opening meet for the annual Blessing of the Hounds. This ritual\, dating back to the Middle Ages\, marks the formal launch of the foxhunting season and gathers hounds\, riders\, and over 1\,000 spectators in a celebration of heritage\, sport\, and community.” \nA beloved event and cherished tradition of over 100 years in Southern Pines and the surrounding area\, The Blessing of the Hounds takes place on Thursday\, November 27th. Celebrate Thanksgiving Day by joining in-person for the Blessing of the Hounds and Opening Meet. Hosted by the non-profit Preserve the Sandhills\, it is such a fun way to start the holiday season. The Blessing will promptly commence at 10:00am\, so plan to allocate at least an hour for parking and walking from Lyell’s Meadow to Buchan Field. \nIf you prefer a front tailgate spot\, reach out to Moore County Hounds for more details. Please remember that dogs and pets are not allowed. DESCRIPTION:Join Moore County Hounds for the 34th annual Hunter Pace event on Sunday\, November 16th | 9:00am-2:00pm! Enjoy an exhilarating day of sport at the stunning Walthour Moss Foundation Hunter Pace at Lyells’s Meadow in Southern Pines. Whether you’re a Trail Blazer looking for a leisurely ride or a Coyote Run participant ready for a full canter\, there is something for every rider. Lunch and Awards Ceremony will follow competition. \nThe competition offers three distinct riding divisions\, each with its own optimum time! The Coyote Run division requires teams to move at a fast pace\, mostly cantering as if following the hounds at full cry. The Fox Chase division is slightly slower\, requiring a brisk pace—mostly trot with some canter. Finally\, the Hilltopper division is for a moderate pace\, consisting of mostly trotting with some walking. \nThe schedule begins with Registration at 8:30am. DESCRIPTION:The last NC/SC Regional Qualifier for the upcoming Junior North American Field Hunter Championships will take place on Saturday\, October 18th\, hosted by the Moore County Hounds at 225 Mile Away Lane in Southern Pines.
