Children must be accompanied by an adult \n“Bird Beak Buffet” In this hands-on ecology adventure\, children will explore how bird beaks are specially adapted for different foods. Using a variety of everyday materials as “beaks\,” participants will test which tools work best for eating marshmallows\, seeds\, fruit\, and more—learning through play and experimentation. \nThe group will travel back in time to meet Charles Darwin and learn about his famous observations of finches in the Galápagos Islands. By connecting these historic discoveries to modern ecology\, children will gain a real-world understanding of evolution and adaptation. Along the way\, participants will discover the important role birds play in healthy garden ecosystems and why biodiversity matters. By blending ecology\, history\, and hands-on discovery\, this program sparks curiosity and helps young learners make connections to the natural world around them. \nThe cost is $5.35 (including fees). DESCRIPTION:“Registration for Santa in the Gardens 2025 is FULL!” \nSanta and Mrs. Claus are coming to the Sandhills Horticultural Gardens on Sunday\, November 30th\, from 12pm-4pm for the annual Santa in the Gardens event! Especially created for children and families\, it will be an afternoon full of holiday fun and activities\, including making reindeer food\, writing letters to Santa\, and learning about plants. Your little one may want to get their face painted\, complete a scavenger hunt\, or try making a simple holiday craft to take home with them. Cookies-n-Moore will also be on-site with a free cookie and beverage for each child! \nNew this year…Santa and Mrs. Claus will have their very own tent for visitation and photos. We have teamed up with a local photographer\, too\, who will be offering professional digital photos for those who are interested. You must register and pay for the professional photographer service ahead of time\, so please check the appropriate ticket when registering. \nAs always\, canned and non-perishable goods will be collected to donate to the SCC Campus food pantry.
