The event takes place at the Shaw House located at 110 West Morganton Road in Southern Pines. Festivities begin at 5:15PM with an open house and cider from James Creek Cider House. While the association provides cider and sparkling water\, guests are encouraged to bring their own wine or spirits if they wish to enjoy alcoholic beverages during the meal. \nChef Giff Fisher has curated a gourmet menu that features a variety of high-end dishes. The meal begins with appetizers including oysters Rockefeller\, candied boar bacon\, and a duck or dove saute\, followed by a gazpacho soup. For the main course\, guests can choose between venison or Cornish hen\, served alongside Carolina Gold rice and grilled local asparagus. The evening concludes with a dessert of Scottish strawberry shortcake made with fresh strawberries. DESCRIPTION:Christmas at Shaw House! Come join the Moore County Historical Association on Saturday\, December 13th from 1:00pm-4:00pm at the Shaw House in Southern Pines. Enjoy old-time decorations\, warm apple cider and homemade cookies at the annual Christmas Open House. Tour three house-museums built during the 1700s and 1800s. This is a free event for the general public and especially for children of all ages to let them see how early Southern Pines and Moore County residents lived. \nThe Association’s gift shop at Shaw House will be open. This is also a perfect time to purchase some of the vintage hand-soaps wrapped in holiday designs. The scented soaps make perfect stocking stuffers. An assortment of books on local history are available for purchase also. The Association’s 2025 Calendar\, Men in Kilts\, will also be available. The calendar features local Scottish members. This is a free event for the general public and especially for children of all ages.
