Get ready for a monstrously fun time with Kathy Downs on Saturday, April 11th from 9:30AM-11:00AM! In this kid-friendly fused glass class, young artists will design and decorate two Mini Monster Faces bursting with personality and color. Kids will choose from a huge assortment of 96 COE glass pieces, including pebbles, dots, stringers, noodles, frit lace, and pre-made glass flowers in lots of fun colors. For extra flair, she’ll also have murrini pieces shaped like hearts, stars, flowers, and even sports designs—perfect for eyes, noses, teeth, and monster details.

To make their monsters extra special, students will get to use dichroic glass, a magical glass that shifts colors depending on the light. It adds sparkle, shine, and just the right amount of monster “funkiness” to each creation! No experience is needed. Kids will have lots of creative freedom while learning the basics of fused glass design in a safe, supportive environment. Perfect for imaginative kids who love monsters, color, and making art that’s a little silly and a lot of fun!

Note: After class, Kathy will kiln-fire each piece. Finished projects will be ready for pickup in approximately one week. Kathy will text you when your child’s pieces are ready to pick up.

Kathy Downs discovered her passion for glass art in 2011 when she and her family moved to the Quantico, VA area. Initially her small glass pieces were unique gifts for family and friends but as her collection and skills grew, she started selling her glass to fund her “glass” habit! She now creates both large and small fused glass in her home-based studio and with 38 years of eduction experience, she is excited to teach and mentor aspiring glass artists through her fused glass classes at ARTworks Vass!

Important Information:

• Beginners are welcome.
• School Aged Children, who follow instructions well and can work and function relatively independently in the classroom and bathroom are welcome to attend.
• Adults are not permitted to register as a student in this class unless registering and attending with the child or children.  (Grab your favorite kiddo and join us!)
• For the safety of all involved, we require that Children be dropped-off and picked-up with their instructor in the classroom. Street or parking lot pickups are not permitted.
• Children may bring a snack and a drink with a lid to class.
• Registration allows for one Guest per class project.
• Only Registered Guests may attend class.
• Registrations are non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled.
• Class starts promptly on time.
• Dress to mess or bring an apron.
• You will be notified when your project is ready to pick up.  We will hold it for 90 days with monthly notifications by text or phone. If you haven’t requested an extension or picked up your work within 90 days, your project will be disposed of at the gallery’s discretion.
