St. Patrick’s Day

St. Patrick’s Day in The Pines

A Little Luck, A Lot of Local Fun

Every March, a little extra green starts popping up around The Pines. Restaurants add corned beef and cabbage to the menu, breweries pour something festive, musicians take the stage and suddenly everyone seems to remember they own at least one green shirt.

St. Patrick’s Day may only come once a year, but around here there are plenty of ways to make a day—or a weekend—of it.

Whether your idea of celebrating involves live music and a pint, dinner with friends, a family outing or simply finding somewhere fun to go, we’re gathering St. Patrick’s Day happenings from across Moore, Lee, Hoke, Harnett, Montgomery and Richmond Counties right here.

Where the Green Leads

Some of the liveliest celebrations happen at our local breweries, pubs and restaurants. Expect themed menus, drink specials, live bands, acoustic music, trivia nights and the occasional party that carries on well past sunset.

Prefer your St. Patrick’s Day with a fork instead of a pint glass? Keep an eye out for Irish-inspired dishes, corned beef and cabbage, hearty comfort food, festive desserts and one-day-only specials at local restaurants.

And despite its reputation for pints and pub crawls, St. Patrick’s Day isn’t just for the grown-ups. Daytime celebrations, crafts, community events and sweet treats give families plenty of reasons to join the fun, too.

A St. Patrick’s Day Tradition in Pinehurst

If there’s one celebration that really brings out the green in The Pines, it’s the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in the Village of Pinehurst.

Held each year on the Saturday before St. Patrick’s Day, the parade has become one of the area’s most popular St. Patrick’s Day traditions. The Village fills with families, friends and plenty of green as the parade makes its way through downtown Pinehurst.

Expect festive floats, local groups, music and lots of St. Paddy’s Day spirit along the route. Arrive early, find a good spot and make a morning of it—then stick around Pinehurst for lunch, shopping or a little more celebrating.

It’s one of those local traditions that feels like spring in The Pines is officially on its way.

Make Your Own Luck

Not every St. Patrick’s Day adventure needs shamrocks and green beer.

March is a beautiful time to get out and explore The Pines. Turn the day into an excuse to visit a local restaurant you haven’t tried, catch a live band, wander through downtown Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen or Sanford, take a walk outdoors or meet up with friends somewhere new.

After all, sometimes finding a great local spot feels a little like discovering a pot of gold.
