A local favorite and a one-of-a-kind fall tradition! The Ederville Train & Tractor Show takes place each year on the first weekend in November in Carthage, NC. Even more special—this annual event is the only time Ederville opens to the public!

Spend three fun-filled days stepping back in time with an impressive collection of vintage tractors, trains, engines and machinery. Festivities include the tractor parade, games, an antique auction, Money in the Haystack and plenty of family fun.

Veterans Day Parade

Held each year on the Saturday before Veterans Day, the Veterans Day Parade in Southern Pines brings the community together to honor and celebrate those who have served our country.

The morning begins with an opening ceremony at 9:30am, followed by the parade at 10am. Filled with patriotism and community spirit, this meaningful tradition recognizes our veterans while celebrating the volunteers, organizations and supporters who help make the event possible.

Holiday Open House in Downtown Sanford

Holiday magic comes to Downtown Sanford each year with the annual Holiday Open House, a beloved tradition that has been spreading cheer since 1991!

Held each year the weekend before Thanksgiving, the Festival of Trees at The Carolina Hotel in Pinehurst is a dazzling display of beautifully decorated Christmas trees, all supporting Sandhills Children’s Center.

This beloved tradition is a special treat for locals and visitors alike—and a wonderful spot to capture festive Christmas photos! Admission is always by donation, making it an easy way to enjoy a little holiday magic while supporting a great cause.

Pinehurst Turkey Trot

Village of Pinehurst, NC

A favorite Thanksgiving tradition in The Pines! The Pinehurst Turkey Trot takes runners and walkers through the beautiful streets and neighborhoods of the Village of Pinehurst and is described by organizers as North Carolina’s oldest Turkey Trot. Choose from the 5K or the Little Gobbler 1-Mile Fun Run, and don’t be afraid to show up in your best turkey attire! The race begins and end at the Village Arboretum.

James Creek Holiday Market

Generally held on the third Sunday in November, the James Creek Holiday Market is a festive way to kick off the holiday season in the beautiful setting of James Creek Cidery’s orchard in Cameron.
