Town of Cameron: Community Meeting to Consider Forming Ruritan Club in Cameron

Meeting to Consider Forming Ruritan Club in Cameron on Monday, May 11th at 5PM at the Cameron Town Hall. An informational meeting is planned for Cameron area residents to discuss ideas, and requirements for chartering a club with Ruritan National. Members from Johnsonville Ruritan Club will be there to answer questions and are willing to sponsor and help guide the club toward success. All citizens are invited to attend to gather more information and consider forming this worthwhile club. Please confirm your attendance by calling Karen Cox at 919-708-3933.
Since 1928 Ruritan, now America’s Leading Community Service Organization, has served parts of our country through volunteerism, making America’s communities better places in which to live and work for almost 100 years. A service organization made up of local clubs in urban areas, small towns and rural communities, Ruritan’s slogan is “Fellowship, Goodwill and Community Service.” Club membership represents a cross-section of the community in which the club serves and is open to all people who are interested in working together to improve and enhance the living conditions in their area.
A major component of Ruritan is patriotism and some programs may include providing patriotic programs at Memorial and Veterans Day; helping those in need; providing scholarships for local students; supporting first responders; and holding holiday events, etc. Each club surveys its own community as to the needs of the residents and then works to meet some of those needs. The camaraderie and common purpose among its members make it fun and rewarding.
