Home Instead Fayetteville Celebrates 20 Years of Caring for Sandhills Families
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — July 24, 2026 — Home Instead Fayetteville is celebrating 20 years of serving older adults and their families throughout Cumberland County, marking two decades of trusted, relationship-based in-home care to over 3,500 clients that helps seniors remain safe, comfortable, and independent in the place they call home.
The story of Home Instead Fayetteville began with a personal experience.
In 2006, local educator Susan Guy found herself searching for quality in-home care when her husband needed assistance. She quickly realized there were few dependable options available for families facing similar challenges. Determined to make a difference, Susan partnered with Martha Owen to explore senior care franchise opportunities that would allow older adults in Cumberland County to receive compassionate, professional care while remaining in the comfort of their own homes.
What began with one family’s search for quality care has grown into one of Cumberland County’s most trusted providers of personalized, non-medical in-home care. Over the past two decades, Home Instead Fayetteville has had the privilege of serving thousands of local families while becoming a trusted resource for physicians, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, senior living communities, and organizations throughout the region.
In December 2015, Bob and Kathryn McCarthy purchased the Home Instead Fayetteville business, building upon the strong foundation Susan and Martha established while continuing the mission of enhancing the lives of aging adults and their families through personalized care and exceptional caregivers.
