The Southern Pines Fire Department is hosting its exciting Fire Academy for children ages 7-12 from Monday-Thursday, July 20th-23rd, at Southern Pines Fire Station #82. Running from 1:00PM-5:00PM daily, this hands-on camp trains young participants in essential firefighter operations, teamwork activities, fire extinguisher training, and family life safety lessons, building a meaningful awareness of the challenges and dedication required for the job. The academy culminates on Thursday with a thrilling skills competition presented to families, after which children will go home early—usually around 3:00PM-3:30PM depending on the presentation’s completion—making it a perfect opportunity to meet local firefighters and build lasting community skills.
The program costs $40 for residents and $56 for non-residents, with a T-shirt and medals provided, though campers are strictly required to wear long pants every day.
