America 250 Locomotive Celebration
August 28 @ 8:00 am – 6:00 pm
Celebrate America’s semi-quincentennial with a historic gathering of red, white, and blue rail power at the America 250 Locomotive Celebration, taking place August 28th-August 30th at the N.C. Transportation Museum in Spencer, NC!
Presented in partnership with Trains Magazine, White River Productions, ScaleTrains, Virtual Railfan, and Jack & Audrey Harris, this three-day event brings together commemorative locomotives from Class I, short line, and passenger railroads. Set against the iconic Bob Julian Roundhouse, the gathering promises unparalleled rail photography opportunities, with equipment rotated daily on the historic turntable to offer a fresh showcase for returning guests.
Visitors can enjoy train rides pulled by a museum diesel locomotive, included with admission subject to availability. The weekend also features exclusive night photography sessions sponsored and coordinated by Railfan & Railroad Magazine, which are limited to 200 participants per night.
