James Creek Cider House: Orchard Wassail 2026

“Apple tree, apple tree, we all come to wassail thee!” Wassail is a traditional twelfth night celebration.
James Creek Cider House in Cameron invites the community to participate in their annual Orchard Wassail event on Saturday, January 17th at 4:30pm! Gather with cider in hand and walk the orchard together as we toast to the trees for a healthy, plentiful harvest in the year ahead. This is one of James Creek’s favorite traditions—and they are excited to share it with you!
Wassailing is an Old English tradition where people visit orchards in midwinter to “wake the trees,” chase away bad spirits, and encourage a plentiful harvest. The word wassail means “be in good health.”
The group will gather with cider in hand to walk through the orchard and toast the trees for a healthy year ahead. Activities include parading through the orchard, “singing” to the apple and pear trees, and offering them sustenance. A tour of the orchard and ciderhouse production space will be offered, and there will be a bonfire. Costumes are encouraged for this celebration of community, tradition, and hope for abundance.
