Taylortown Founder’s Day: 38 Year Anniversary Celebration

On July 19th the Historic Town of Taylortown will host its annual Founder’s Day Celebration. The event honors Demus Taylor, a member of the Ibo Tribe of West Africa, who survived slavery and helped establish the Old Settlement, which became the Town of Taylortown in 1987. The day’s festivities begin at 7:00am with the “T-Town Fun Run/Walk,” a one-mile event led by Coach Jeffrey Moody, starting at Johnny Boler Municipal Park. Later, at 11:00 a.m., the “First Families of Taylortown Luncheon” will be held at Town Hall, where attendees can share stories of their family’s connection to Taylortown. Following the luncheon, a scrapbooking session is scheduled for 1:00pm at the Taylortown Museum, where participants can also explore “Envisioning Our Future.” The celebration concludes with a “Pool Party” from 3:00pm-8:00pm. at Johnny Boler Municipal Park, featuring music, vendors and more.
