The Great Downtown Carthage Detour Challenge

Downtown Carthage businesses are inviting the community to “Survive the Detour” and support local merchants during The Great Downtown Carthage Detour Challenge, taking place Wednesday, September 23rd-Saturday, September 26th, from 10:00AM-5:00PM.
Despite ongoing road construction and shifting traffic patterns around town, local shops, eateries, and services remain open for business, offering everything from coffee at Moore Coffee Company or Buggy Town Coffee, books at Second Chapter Books, and adoptable felines at Kitten Around Cat Lounge, to hardware at Keith Hardware, fashion at Lisa’s Boutique, antiques at The Vintage Barn, and treats at Wishflower Bakery & Creamery Shoppe. Visitors can also grab a bite at The Soup Company or Chuck Wagon Restaurant, or explore the historic Tyson Sinclair building housing Market 107, Practical Posh, The Soapy Goat & Gifts, Second Charm Vintage, Sun + Soul Collective, Grand Ole Finds, MADink, J’s Variety, City Barbershop, and Susa Hibachi Grill.
Most main retail shops operate Wednesday-Saturday, while Second Chapter Books is open Monday-Saturday. The event centers around Courthouse Square, encouraging residents and visitors to navigate the orange cones and back small local businesses.
